The children’s summer reading celebration, Make a Splash! will begin on Tuesday, June 15 for K-2nd grades and Wednesday, June 16 for 3rd-5th grades, from 1:30-2:30 PM. Make a Splash will continue through Wednesday, August 4. Along with the regular fare of stories, crafts and reading incentives, there will be many special programs, including: Miss Frances’ Musical Instruments Sing Along for K-2; Montana Outdoor Science School for 3rd-5th; Storyteller/Naturalist Doc Wild; Magician Kyle Groves; Museum of the Rockies; and children’s singer-songwriter Copper Tom.

Tweens and teens in 6th -12th grades can Make Waves @ the library on Thursdays 1:30 – 3 PM, starting June 17 through July 22. Each week there will be fun events, including a Sidewalk Chalk Art Splash, Fun in the Sun Crafts, Storyteller/Naturalist Doc Wild, Life’s a Beach Party, an L-Town Treasure Hunt, and Summer 2010 Water Olympiad Finale! Additionally, the Teen Beach Bum Book Club will meet Friday afternoons on June 25, July 9, July 16, and July 23. Discussion titles are Found by Margaret Haddix Peterson, Keeper by Kathi Appelt, The Red Kayak by Priscilla Cummings, and They Came From Below by Blake Nelson. Friday, April 16 – Epic by Conor Kostik is the monthly pick for the Young Adult Book Discussion Group which will meet from 4-5 PM in the Teen Room.  Copies are available for checkout.

Thursday, April 22 – Family Read Night will be hosting a special program to highlight a new collection of books obtained through a “Picturing America” grant.  Dinner will be served at 6 PM followed by special readings from City and County officials.  Food and fun for all ages, 6-7:45 PM.

Thursday, April 29 – In honor of National Poetry Month, the After School Program will feature a Spring Poetry Workshop for elementary ages, K-5, from 3:45-4:45 PM. Snacks will be provided.

Teen Tech Week Events, March 8 – 13: Teens can test their knowledge of text lingo by picking up a quiz anytime after school throughout the week. Then, join the Texting Competition to find out who is the fastest teen texter in town,  Wednesday, March 10, 4-5 PM in the Teen Room.  Prizes will be awarded.

After School Program:  Celebrate Vincent Van Gogh’s birthday through stories and drawing or painting one of his famous works of art. Snacks will be provided. Thursday, March 18, 3:45-4:45 PM.

The Young Adult Book Discussion Group (grades 6-12) meets in the Teen Room, Friday, March 19, 4-5 PM to discuss Maximum Ride by James Patterson. Copies are available to check out.
