Friends of the Livingston-Park County Library (FOL) is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization of persons interested in suppporting library services. The group was established January 15, 1976, and has been active, with regular meetings, since that time. The monthly meeting of the Friends of the Library Executive Committee is held in the library’s Teen Room from 10:30 AM – noon on the second Wednesday of the month. Everyone is welcome to attend. Please join us!
The purpose of FOL is to focus public attention on the library, stimulate the use of the library’s resources and services, receive and encourage gifts, endowments, and bequests to the library, support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilities for Park County, and support the freedom to read as expressed in the American Library Association Bill of Rights.
In addition, FOL sponsors semi-annual used-book sales; profits are used by the library exclusively for the purchase of new library materials. Other fundraising efforts include an annual dinner with local authors and the sale of posters by artist Parks Reece.
The Friends fund many of the library’s special programs as well as such special activities as the Carnegie Readers and Saturday Afternoon at the Movies.
